1. About these Terms
These Terms are between you and Thomas Skjerdal, the person operating Vague.no as a non-commercial project from Norway (“Vague.no”, “we”, “us”). They govern use of the Vague.no website and quiz service.
By creating a permanent account, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Notice explains how we process personal data; it is not part of these Terms and is not something you “consent to” as a whole.
2. Eligibility
Vague.no is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or guardian where required and that they have reviewed these Terms with you. Do not use Vague.no if doing so is unlawful where you live.
3. Accounts and guest play
- You may play using an anonymous guest account or create an account using an available sign-in method.
- You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate another person.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account and should promptly report unauthorised use.
- You may not sell, transfer, share or automate access to an account.
Guest data may be temporary. We do not promise to preserve guest progress unless it is successfully linked to a permanent account.
4. The service
Vague.no provides educational and entertainment quizzes, scores, progress tracking, achievements, leaderboards, challenges and cosmetic rewards. Quiz content may contain errors or reflect reasonable editorial judgments about geography, names, borders and political status. It is not professional, academic or official advice.
5. Public features
Usernames, avatars, selected achievements and scores may be visible to other users. Challenge links can be shared outside Vague.no and may reveal the challenger’s profile and challenge results to anyone who receives the link. Use these features only with information you are comfortable making public.
6. Your content
You retain any rights you have in an avatar or other content you upload. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, resize, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate and secure the relevant Vague.no feature. This licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, subject to reasonable backup retention and legal duties.
You confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions for content you submit. The Community Guidelines form part of these Terms.
7. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- upload unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexual, privacy-invasive or infringing content;
- harass users, impersonate others, or publish another person’s private information;
- cheat, manipulate scores, exploit bugs, scrape the service or use unauthorised automation;
- bypass security, rate limits, access controls or moderation measures;
- interfere with the service or use it to distribute malicious code; or
- use Vague.no in a way that violates law or another person’s rights.
8. Points, XP and cosmetic items
Points, XP, achievements and cosmetic items are in-service features only. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be transferred between users. Vague.no does not sell these items for real money. These Terms must be updated before any paid product is introduced.
9. Our content and rights
Vague.no and its original software, design, branding and content are owned by us or our licensors. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service for its intended non-commercial purpose. Third-party maps, flags, datasets, fonts and other materials remain subject to their respective terms and licences.
10. Moderation and account action
We may remove content, limit features, suspend or close accounts where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate abuse or enforce these Terms. Where appropriate, we will consider context, severity and repeat behaviour and explain significant action. Contact hi@vague.no to report content or ask us to reconsider a decision.
11. Availability and changes
We may maintain, change or discontinue parts of Vague.no. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, but this does not limit any mandatory right you have under consumer law. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.
12. Responsibility
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights. To the extent permitted by law, neither party is responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss. These Terms do not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Ending your use
You may stop using Vague.no at any time. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from the Danger zone in your account settings, or by emailing hi@vague.no. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, lawful accrued claims and dispute provisions—will continue to apply.
14. Governing law and complaints
These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not remove mandatory protections granted by the law of your country of residence. Contact hi@vague.no first so we can try to resolve a complaint. Any dispute may be brought before a court or consumer-resolution body with jurisdiction under applicable law.
